About Us

Our community exists to serve those wishing to celebrate Mass, and our Faith, in the English Language, in the city of Luzern. Beyond Mass, we occasionally also hold community events, such as the summer Barbecue, and Soup Sundays. Beginning with Lent 2020, we started meeting for weekly Lectio Divina (entirely online due to the pandemic).

The Catholic English Community of Luzern celebrated its first Mass on Sunday 10th March 2019:

In no particular order, we give thanks to:

  • Fr. Ruedi Beck, and Nicola Neider, of the Hofkirche and Catholic Church of Luzern respectively, for their support in making this service happen.
  • The Bishopric (Bistum) of Basel – who fund our chaplain as part of the International pastoral care in the Kanton of Luzern.
  • The Peterskapelle Team for making the chapel available for our services.
  • The Catholic Church of Luzern for their support.
  • Fr. Thomson Thannikappilly, of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites. Fr. Thomson graciously volunteered to celebrate Holy Mass during the first one and a half years of our community, while spending time in Luzern as part of his studies.
