Installation of Bro. George as Chaplain

Dr. Brigitte Glur-Schüpfer (center), welcomes the congregation to the installation of Bro. George (center-right/back).

Yesterday we celebrated the formal installation of Bro. George as Chaplain of the English community. He was installed by Dr. Brigitte Glur-Schüpfer on behalf of the episcopal vicariate St. Viktor (Diocese Basel).

Brother George first joined our community as chaplain last month, we are very happy to be able to continue with our celebrations in English under his direction in future.

We were also glad to welcome Josef Haselbach – Provincial of the Capuchins in Switzerland, Willi Anderau – Guardian of the Capuchin Monastery in Luzern, and Sr. Dorina Zanoni – congregational leader of the Generelate of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

Farewell Fr. Thomson

Fr. Thomson (former chaplain) center, Bro. George (our new chaplain) right, Fr. Ruedi (parish priest Hofkirche, inspirator of the English Community) left.

On Saturday 19th September we celebrated Fr. Thomson’s farewell (along with our first Saturday Evening Mass). We are fortunate to welcome Brother George as the new Chaplain of our community.

Fr. Thomson graciously offered to lead our celebrations from the beginning of the English community – back in March 2019, when he was doing his doctoral studies in Luzern – but has since then been called back to his ministry with the Carmelites in Kerala (India). He has strongly shaped our community both through his actions and his preachings. He will be sorely missed, and we wish him all the best in his future ministries!

Change in Change in Mass Time

As previously announced, our Mass time is changing to Saturdays, 5:30pm – replacing our old time of Sunday Morning at 9:30am. However, our first Saturday evening Mass will be on Saturday 19th September – 5:30pm (and not on Saturday 12th September as originally announced). Our last Sunday Morning Mass will therefore be on Sunday 13th Septmber – 9:30am.

All Masses will be in the Peterskapelle, as per usual.

We apologise for the late change, and any confusion this may have caused.
